Maternal-fetal Medicine Outpatient Service

The maternal-fetal medicine outpatient service teaches the management of outpatient high-risk obstetrics. This service also reviews critical/controversial cases by presenting them to the perinatal group, office nurse, and obstetrics team on a monthly basis. Residents rotate through this service during their second, third, and fourth years.

General Obstetrics Service

The general obstetrics service teaches the management of normal low-risk pregnancies, labor and delivery, vaginal birth after cesarean delivery, vaginal delivery of selected patients with breech presentation, vaginal delivery of multi-fetal pregnancies, and operative obstetrics. Residents rotate through this service during their first, second, third, and fourth years.

Perinatal Service

The perinatal service rotations familiarize residents with the outpatient and inpatient management of high-risk pregnancies secondary to maternal or fetal complications. The rotation is primarily for the second, third, and fourth years.

General Gynecologic Service

The general gynecologic service assists residents in acquiring skills and knowledge in a broad spectrum of gynecologic disorders. Residents gain experience in inpatient, outpatient, urogynecology, and surgery. Residents rotate through this service during their first, second, third, and fourth years.

Gynecologic Oncology Service

The gynecologic oncology service teaches about the management of gynecologic cancers, breast disease, and premalignant diseases of the cervix, vulva, and vagina. Residents rotate through this service during their first, second, third, and fourth years.

Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Service

The reproductive endocrinology and infertility service teaches the management of fetal development disorders, disorders associated with infertility or failure of human reproduction, menstrual disorders, other endocrine disorders, and management of the climacteric period. Third- and fourth-year residents rotate through the service.

Obstetrics Ultrasound Service

The obstetrics ultrasound service teaches basic physical principles of medical ultrasonography, the investigation of early pregnancy, the assessment of the normal fetal anatomy at 18 to 20 weeks, the basic knowledge of the natural history and findings of abnormalities, and to identify early pregnancy (fetal viability, single and multiple gestation) and pathological conditions such as early pregnancy failures and hydatiform mole, the study of epidemiology, differential diagnosis, and natural history of abnormalities, fetal biometry, and estimation of gestational age, including interpretation and appreciation of limitation of ultrasound and other investigations for gestational age assessment. First-year residents rotate through the service. Fourth-year residents (who did not get the service in their first year) have the option to complete ultrasound as an elective.

Urogynecology Service

This service incorporates both an inpatient and outpatient experience, including the workup and management of most urogynecologic problems. This service allows for one-on-one education with an attending. Third and fourth-year residents rotate through this service.
