This is what our residents say about what social activities there are to do in residency in Savannah, GA

"My favorite thing about Savannah is the wide variety of activities available. From the beach, to the new Riverside district downtown, to the Forsyth Farmer’s market, it’s easy to find a new activity or to explore a new area of town. My family and friends love visiting me here!

"Memorial has done a fantastic job in fostering a teaching-friendly environment. It's comforting to be part of a team where collaboration and learning are the main priorities. I know that if I ever need help, I don't have to look very far."
Krystal Limsiaco, PGY-3

"The best part of Savannah is the versatility of the city and surrounding areas. Downtown, you can visit pubs and restaurants one weekend and experience major historical sites the next. If you're feeling outdoorsy, the beach and state parks are a short trip away. Kayaking the marshes is tons of fun. And no matter the season, it's always a great idea for an outdoor barbecue with cornhole!"
Ame Wilder, former resident

"As a mother of three rowdy boys, I am grateful to live in a city with ample green space, beautiful parks, sidewalks throughout the neighborhoods, and centuries of history to explore. I am also grateful to be part of a program that cultivates a family environment with bowling outings, cookouts, pool parties, regular lunches and birthday celebrations. Moreover, this residency supports me as a mother and embraces my family as their own. For example, my family recently held a fundraising 5K for a service dog for my diabetic son, and many fellow residents and faculty donated and participated. Dr. Rebecca Marshburn, PGY-1, even took home first place among women!"
Natalie Britt, PGY-3

"The Savannah area offers plenty of leisure activities and social events. The city is covered with great city parks, restaurants, art galleries, and historic architecture. They host a large amount of public concerts and festivals. Just walking around the historic town and River Street is enjoyable. Tybee Beach is nearby and easily accessible for quick and relaxing day trips. There are also local intramural sports teams to join. Our program encourages us to socialize outside of the hospital and there are opportunities to do this as we have 'golden weekends' at least once a month."
